Police shoot suspect dead after hours-long standoff

A standoff has been swarmed by law enforcement in a south Redding neighborhood after the killing of a suspect by a police officer during the hours of standoff Monday afternoon, authorities said.

According to reports, the unknown man broke into a house while the house's owner was outside at the moment of the shooting.

The event took place in the 1200 block of Arizona Street at around 3:30 p.m.

Authorities claimed that nobody was hurt or assaulted in the incident.

The man was later convinced to exit the home holding his hands in the air.

Two children and two adults were reportedly inside the house.

The man died at the east side of the house from a gunshot wound in the nose, witnesses said.
