A 5-year-old boy has called police Saturday evening after a failed attempt to revive his mother who suffered several stab injuries.

When police responded to the boy's call, they found Belinda Thomas bleeding at a Utah trailer house. She died shortly after the officers's arrival.

According to her son, Thomas was stabbed by Darren Byrd, 50, who lived with the family at the same trailer.

After the attack, the suspect has drove off a car which has been located by police later in the day.

He is being held in prison while facing many charges including aggravated murder, domestic violence in presence of child and child abuse.

The boy remains in the custody of the state's Division of Child and Family Services, news outlets said.
