Mystery surrounds the death of an Arkansas high school football player whose body was found in a charred pickup truck on the evening of May 4.
The Arkansas County Sheriff's Office identified Johnny Howard as the person found dead in a burned stolen pickup hours after he was reported missing.
Authorities said that the vehicle was reported stolen on May 2. They have yet to name a suspect in the death of the 18-year-old Stuttgart High School student.
“He had great manners,” teacher Hollee Davis said about the slain teen on Facebook. “He was a friend to everyone – you didn't have to be from here or even an athlete.”
“Johnny was a kid. He did dumb stuff just like every kid. But that didn't make him a bad kid just like it doesn't make your kid a bad kid.”
“Johnny was not evil. He was not bad. Not on any day ever could you make me believe he somehow deserved this. He was not that guy.”
The community is offering up to $3,800 in reward to anyone with information about the incident.
