DHS : U.S voters targeted with "misinformation" on social media

The U.S government said that a limited 'misinformation' campaign on social media has targeted the voters attempting to interfere in the U.S midterm elections.

Facebook Inc and Twitter have taken down millions of posts and blocked hundreds of accounts suspected of spreading divisive content, influencing the public information and disseminating propaganda ahead of Tuesday's midterm elections. The U.S government investigators believe that these campaigns are connected to foreign groups.

The DHS, FBI and the Department of Justice said in a statement that "Americans should be aware that foreign actors -And Russia in particular- continue to try to influence public sentiment and voter perceptions through actions intended to sow discord" . Adding that" the United States will not tolerate foreign interference in our elections from Russia, China, Iran or other nations".
