5years ago

A sixth person has been charged with investigating an alleged large-scale drug offer in the Newcastle and Macquarie Lake areas.

Strike Force Castlestead was created in September 2018 to investigate and dismantle an alleged syndicate of drug providers.

As a result of extensive investigations, force investigators arrested five men in December 2018, all of whom were charged with serious drug offenses. They stay in the courts.

New investigations are being conducted and a 26-year-old man was arrested yesterday at a Cameron Park home.

He was taken to the Belmont Police Station and charged with several offenses. Prohibited drug supply. Possess a prohibited drug. Knowingly handle proceeds of crime. Knowingly participate in a crime of assistance to a criminal group.

The man was denied bail today at the Newcastle Local Court.

The investigations by the Castlestead strike force are continuing and new arrests are planned.
