Man arrested after unprovoked assault on passerby

Authorities arrested a Woodbury man after he allegedly stabbed another man before yelling racial slurs at him on a busy city street.

According to Camden County Police, the incident took place on the 1700 block of South Broadway when 66-year-old Rocky Kowalczyk pulled off a bus at about 9:15 p.m. Few moments after he began suddenly to assault an unknown man, directing slurs at him while the victim fled the area with a friend of his, witness said.

Kowalczyk was arrested few minutes later.

The victim was transported to Cooper University Hospital. He sustained a non-life threatening injury.

The suspect was taken to the Camden County Jail. He faces charges of possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose and criminal attempted homicide, police said.
