Members of the Grove Police Department were providing help in the Wildfire region of Paradise Thursday when they noticed a flagpole in Ripley lane standing tall.
Katie Cooley and Julius Lewis were very surprised when they discovered that "our flag was still there", that the American flag was in fact the only thing that the flames didn't destroy.
"It was pretty amazing to see" claims Lewis, "The house in the backdrop was completely burnt to the ground, yet the flag was still there."
The officiers secured the flag and took the address, in the hope of returning it to owners.
"We'll try to work with the city there, and public records or however we can do that to try to locate the owners," Cooley said, adding her wish to "figure out who the rightful owner is."
