Abilene news, Montana news.

A former Montana county attorney has been arrested and charged after she allegedly shot her husband several times in their Abilene residence.

Jessica Cole-Hodgkinson, a 47-year-old, was charged with first-degree aggravated assault following the shooting that occurred in the 800 block of Victoria Street on Sunday at about 6 a.m.

The suspect's husband came home to find out that the door was locked by his wife. He then managed to enter to discover her armed in a bathroom. She allegedly fired at him several times using a handgun, hitting him in the abdomen and right shoulder.

Hodgkinson resigned as county attorney in July following allegations of her incapacity to prosecute cases.

She was released from the Taylor County prison on a $50,000 bond.
