Nashville thief shot by victim's husband amid robbery attempt

A Nashville thief who attempted to steal a woman's purse has been shot by her husband Monday night.

The event happened in Antioch at around 9:30 p.m. when the 19-year-old Jordan Ponce came toward a woman who returned home from work and stole her purse, news outlets said.

The 25-year-old victim began screaming when the suspect stroke her head against a building wall. Her husband then heard the voices and came immediately to help her.

Both the suspect and the 29-year-old husband entered in a fight that ended with the shooting of Ponce.

He was transferred to the hospital and suffered injuries in his stomach and hands.

The husband was not charged while Ponce could face several charges.
