A 4-year-old Washington boy has shot his pregnant mother in the face, police said.
The event occurred when the child found a firearm that his father hid under a mattress. He took the weapon and fired at his 27-year-old mother unintentionally several times. "We do not ever want to see something like this", said King County Sheriff's Office spokesman Sergeant Ryan Abbott.
The eight-months pregnant woman who suffered life-threatening wounds in the shooting was immediately rushed to Harborview Medical Center before being transported to another facility. Her health condition is improving authorities said.
The identity of the gun owner remains unclear.The investigation is still ongoing in the incident.
