South Africa tragic school collapse leaves 3 dead, 5 severely wounded

News outlets claimed that three teens were prounonced dead while five others were severely wounded in a walkway collapse at their school.

The collapse took place in Vanderbijlpark, around 40 miles south of Johannesburg.

The director of the Gauteng Province Education Department, Panayaza Lesufi claimed that about 26 other students were gravely injured in the tragic incident.

Investigation is still ongoing in the tragedy: "We've shut down the school until further notice to investigate how this could have happened.", he said.

He expressed his thoughts to the victims' families who were aged between 14 and 17-years-old.

Three of the injured were badly wounded in the collapse and were rushed to the hospital in a critical state.
