Denver news, Colorado news.

Officials said on Thursday that the Colorado gunman who reportedly shot two police officers during an hours-standoff with authorities last Sunday had committed suicide.

Joseph Quintana, 35-year-old, died in a hospital on Monday from his self-inflicted injuries. He engaged with police officials in a long standoff causing them to use chemical agents to force him to leave his mother's home that caught fire and was destroyed.

Quintana shot two police officers, identified as Steve Gameroz and Richard Jaramillo, one in the leg and the other in the abdomen, before shooting himself, according to Denver Police Department.

He was later pronounced dead after being rushed to the hospital.
