Iowa student froze to death in the University campus

Officials announced that a body believed to be that of a University of Iowa student has been discovered on the campus in Iowa City.

According to reports, the cause of the death is the cold weather at the time of the incident.

The body of 18-years-old Gerald Belz was found by campus police on Wednesday at around 3 a.m. behind an academic hall. He was immediately transported to the hospital where he was prounonced dead.

The cause of the student's death remains unclear at this moment.

Belz's death was considered as the eight fatality in relation with the dangerously low temperatures and cold weather.

The wind chill about 3 a.m. was minus 51 degrees, the National Weather said.
