A pedestrian has been injured after a collision involving a government motorcade near the White House on Wednesday.

The incident happened after a protester jumped in front of the motorcade, and a uniformed Secret Service officer started to confront him, at which point both were struck by one of the vehicles.

The Secret Service agent was transferred to a local hospital for treatment, while the protestor who started the dispute was arrested.

The motorcade that departed the White House on Wednesday was reportedly carrying a Chinese delegation led by Vice Premier Liu He, who has led Chinese trade negotiations in recent weeks as the U.S. and China attempt to resolve their trade dispute.
