An Alabama mother is behind bars for attacking her teen daughter with a machete and severely injuring her hand during a quarrel over money.

49-year-old Corina D’Andrea was charged with first-degree domestic violence and attempted murder.

Corina attacked her 18-years-old daughter with a machete after believing that the teen stole money from her.

deputies were called to the 4400 block of Woodland Hills Road and arrived to find a teen suffering from "severe wounds" to her arms, hands, and skull. The victim, whose hand was nearly severed in the attack, told deputies her mother assaulted her with a machete. The teen was taken to the hospital, where she is listed in critical but stable condition.

Corina is being held in the Jefferson County Jail on $30,000 bond.
