Marshalltown news, Iowa news.

A 13-year-old boy was found dead after leaving home in the middle of a snowstorm following an argument with parents.

Police said in a news release that Corey Brown’s body was located about 10:45 a.m. Sunday in a secluded area on the west side of Marshalltown. They said there’s no evidence the boy’s death involved criminal activity, but that they will continue to investigate.

Brown was last seen around 11:15 p.m. Tuesday near the Jackie Terrace neighborhood walking south. Surveillance video captured footage of the teenager leaving the house hours after he apparently had an argument with his parents, the police chief said.

Citizens have rallied together posting flyers, lighting their outside lights green, and doing whatever they could to try and help bring him home.

Marshalltown Schools released a statement on Brown's death.

"We are saddened to learn of the death of one of our students. Our thoughts and deepest condolences go out to the Brown family and those close to Corey. He was loved by many and will be deeply missed. We will continue to offer additional counselors at Miller Middle School and Marshalltown High School to assist those in need," says the statement.

Anyone with information about Brown's death is encouraged to call the Marshalltown Police Department at 641-754-5725 or Crime Stoppers at 641-753-1234.
