A woman has been arrested and charged with capital murder after the cadaver of her boyfriend was found dismembered inside a camper trailer in Melbourne.

47-year-old Penny Rebecca Pospisil is now facing charges of second-degree murder and abuse of a dead body in the death of her boyfriend, 55-year-old Anthony Franklin Mitchell.

On Dec. 30, the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office was contacted by the Melbourne Police Department and informed of an active death investigation occurring within their jurisdiction. The preliminary investigation revealed that the dismembered body of a man had been discovered inside of a camper trailer located at Wickham Park Campground in Melbourne. The cause of death was subsequently determined to be homicide due to blunt force trauma.

An investigation revealed that Mitchell moved to the Lake Panasoffkee RV

Village, in early August 2018, with his girlfriend Penny Rebecca Pospisil, 47.

According to the report, the victim's family last spoke with him on Aug. 22 and it was shortly after that when detectives learned that Pospisil had started informing friends, family, and neighbors that Mitchell had passed away. The investigation also revealed that persons within the Lake Panasoffkee RV Village noticed a foul odor coming from Mitchell and Pospisil's camper trailer.

She was booked into the Brevard County Jail, where she's being held without bond.
