Texas police said that a 12-year-old boy was charged in connection with the deadly shooting of a professional boxer in the South Texas town.
Reports said that super featherweight John VanMeter, 24, was shot dead in his house in Uvalde Wednesday night. Witnesses said that someone had kicking in the boxer's door and fired at him while opening and that they noticed a male fled away from the house wearing a black bandanna over his face.
The victim was transported to a hospital where he was prounonced dead.
The 12-year-old boy was taken to a juvenile detention center. He was charged with capital murder.
VanMeter's trainer said that he was a man with a heart of gold and an amazing spirit.
