TAMPA news, Florida news.

A security officer at a Florida elementary school has been arrested after sexually assaulting a 6-year-old girl while playing a "game room".

Malcolm Curtis Tillman, 22, who is working at Booker T. Washington Elementary School in Hillsborough County as a security guard was charged with sexual battery on a child younger than 12 years old.

According to police, officers were notified on January 10 about a possible incident with a security officer and a 6-year-old girl.

Officials said Tillman denied the allegation but admitted that he was alone with the girl in a classroom.

The investigation turned up physical evidence from the classroom that supported the report. When DNA evidence was processed and implicated Tillman, a warrant was issued for his arrest.

According to an arrest affidavit, the 6-year-old alleged victim was in her classroom on January 10 when Tillman escorted her to the school’s game room and tied a jacket around her eyes as she sat in a chair with her hands behind her.

Investigators claim he then sexually assaulted the girl after attempting to assure her that “he was going to take care” of her and she needn’t worry, court documents reveal.

The girl reported the incident the same day and district officials contacted Tampa police. The girl was able to show investigators the room and pointed to a black fleece jacket that was still there on the back of a couch, the affidavit says.

Tillman's semen was found on two sections of the fleece jacket, the report says.

He was arrested and transported to the Hillsborough County Jail, where he remained behind bars as of Friday with bond set at $250,000.
