Two people charged after a woman was seriously injured during a bag snatch in Berkeley

5years ago

On Sunday, August 26, 2018, just before 10 am, a 62-year-old woman and her son were sitting in a car in the public parking lot of a temple in Berkley.

It is alleged that another woman approached the passenger door and grabbed her bag.

While the woman was trying to hold her bag, she was dragged into a nearby car, where a man was waiting in the driver's seat.

The car started, dragging the woman a short distance before falling and banging her head.

Officers from the Lake Illawarra Police District attended the meeting and set up a crime scene.

The woman was taken to Wollongong Hospital before being transferred to Royal North Shore Hospital with severe head injuries. She has since been released, but as a result of the incident, she suffers from permanent physical injuries.

Today, a 34-year-old woman was arrested in front of the local Wollongong courthouse.

She was taken to the Wollongong Police Station and charged with robbery with people who caused serious bodily harm.

A 35-year-old man from Wollongong also received a notice of future court attendance for the same offense that was scheduled to appear in Wollongong Local Court on April 5, 2019.
