Officials say that a Texas homeowner in east Houston allegedly shot and killed three home invaders wearing ski masks early Sunday at around 1 a.m.

According to Houston Police Department homicide detective Travis Miller, the homeowner grabbed his gun and opened fire at the invaders; he appeared to have defended himself. "We have multiple, multiple shell casings from several different types of guns," he said.

One of the men died in front of the home, as the others drove off a SUV and ran away. The vehicle crashed later into a pole and a second invader died inside it while the others were transferred to a nearby hospital.

The homeowner was reportedly not injured in the incident.
