A man charged with stabbing another man, at Newtown yesterday

A man appeared in court today after being accused of stabbing another man yesterday in Newtown.

Yesterday, around 4 pm, several residents of a unit complex on Camden Street were involved in a verbal dispute.

Shortly after, a 49-year-old man entered one of the units and stabbed the occupant, a 30-year-old man in the chest.

Emergency services were contacted by officers from the Inner West Police Area Command who went to establish a crime scene.

The injured man was treated at the scene and transferred to the RPA hospital in a stable condition.

Police located and arrested the 49-year-old man who was taken to the Newtown Police Station.

He was later charged with wounding with intent to cause serious bodily harm.

The man was denied bail today at the Parramatta bail court.
