Convicted killer of Morgan Freeman's step-granddaughter sentenced to 20 years in jail

According to police, the killer of actor's Morgan Freeman step-granddaughter in New York City has been sentenced to 20 year in prison.

Lamar Davenport 33-year-old stabbed E'Dena Hines several times in August 2015 while under drugs and alcohol influence, prosecutors said.

During the sentencing hearing that occurred on Thursday Davenport who was convicted of first-degree murder in May 2018 expressed an apology to the victim's family claiming that he "doesn't really remember what happened that day."

After Hines's death, Freeman stated: "The world will never know her artistry and talents."

The victim was a talented actress, she played a small role in the movie "5 Flights Up" with her grandfather and Diane Keaton.
