On Saturday, January 19, 2019, a 31-year-old woman was with five others on a road on Cobb Road in Pretty Pine, north of Deniliquin, when she was shot in the head.
The emergency services attended and the woman was taken to the Deniliquin Hospital before being flown to Royal Melbourne Hospital where she remains in critical condition.
Two crime scenes were established and examined by the specialized police.
A 32-year-old man, the woman's husband, was arrested by police from the Murray River Police District and taken to the Deniliquin Police Station.
Four other witnesses, two men and two women, were also questioned by the police.
The 32-year-old was subsequently charged with firearms that could injure people or property, use an unauthorized firearm, and use a firearm as a result of alcohol.
The man will appear in Griffith court on Wednesday, January 23, 2019.
Investigations are continuing.
