A 37-year-old man was sleeping in his Subaru car, parked on the Brunswick Heads Nature Reserve access road, before 6 am today (Friday, January 18, 2019), when he was awakened by a person writing on the side of the car.
He got out of the car and spoke to a man covered in face and carrying a pistol.
The police learned that the man had made several threats before firing two shots at the owner of the car. A bullet hit him on the forehead.
The man was able to leave the scene and seek help at the Brunswick Police Station before being taken to Byron Bay Hospital for life-threatening injuries.
The police learned that he was in a stable state.
The investigators are now looking for the man who shot the car owner.
