A man charged over a carjacking at Kogarah on New Year’s Day

On Tuesday, January 1, 2019, at around 10:25 pm, a 52-year-old woman stopped her Toyota Yaris at Railway Parade, Kogarah. A man approached the woman and threatened her with a knife before asking her to leave the car.

The man took the car and headed north towards Rockdale.

The officers were informed and patrolled the vehicle without success.

On Thursday, January 10, 2019, the car was involved in a lawsuit against the police in Campsie, but the lawsuit ended when the police lost sight of the car.

After further investigation, today, police arrested a 31-year-old man in Kogarah after he was inside the car.

The car would also carry stolen license plates.

The man was taken to the Kogarah Police Station, charged with armed robbery, police prosecution, fraud, and drive whilst disqualified.

He was refused bail was refused to appear in Sutherland District Court tomorrow.
