Two people arrested after a firearm was found in a car near Sydney Airport today

This morning, a 23-year-old man went to a car rental company at the local airport in Sydney stating that he had lost the key to the car he had rented on Saturday, January 12, 2019.

One of them went to pick up a car in front of a fast-food restaurant located on Ross Smith Avenue, Mascot.

Upon his return to the airport car rental office, the officer found a firearm.

When the AFP officers arrived, they seized the car and the firearm.

The 23-year-old man with an 18-year-old woman was arrested around 2 pm by the Australian Federal Police at the car rental office at the local Sydney Airport.

The woman was taken to the Sydney Airport Police Station by AFP agents.

Shortly after, officers from the Botany Bay Police Headquarters went to the scene and took the man into custody. He was then transferred to the Mascot Police Station.

The car was seized by the police and towed.

The investigations continue.
