Fort Worth Police Department has fired five officers and suspended two others without pay on Tuesday after the in-custody death of a suspect on July 26, 2018, authorities said.

Christopher Lowe, 55, complained about feeling ill when the officers handcuffed him. He was found unresponsive in the back of a patrol car. He died shortly after being taken to hospital.

The police department identified the officers who were fired as: T. Stephens, D. Pritzker, C. Golden, H. Fellhauer and M. Miller. Those suspended are S. Smith and A. Scharf for respectively 90 days and five days.

The officers failed to seek medical aid, and to protect the man's rights while in custody. The case will likely be sent before the grand jury.
