A two-year-old girl escaped death after the child’s car seat fell out of a moving vehicle and onto the road while her mother kept driving unaware of the incident.

the incident which was marked in a video which was circulating in social media happened near Riverfront Drive shortly before noon Monday.

the footage shows a 2-year-old girl, strapped into a car seat, topple out of the driver's side rear door of a sedan at about 11:45 a.m. as the car turned around a corner approaching the intersection.

Police Cmdr. Dan Schisel said the child was examined by Gold Cross paramedics and was uninjured.

The child was properly fastened in the safety seat but the seat was not fastened to the vehicle seat, according to police.

It's unclear why the vehicle door opened.

Chad Mock, who posted a video of the incident on Facebook, was driving behind and tried to flag the baby's parents down. He stopped traffic to grab the baby.

The child's mother was driving the vehicle and returned to the scene once she realized the child was missing.

The mother could face charges of child endangerment.
