K-9 killed in the line of duty, Officer injured during shoot-out.

A K-9 who had just turned 3-years-old was killed during a shoot out incident with a suspect, while another officer was injured.

Authorities responded to the 1000 block of West Skyline Parkway where Haas died during a domestic assault call off Skyline Parkway on Sunday night. His partner, Officer Aaron Haller, suffered a non-life threatening injury during the same shooting.

the suspect opened fire on officers after an hour of negotiations, he was later pronounced dead after another officer returned fire.

“He was so full of energy,” Northland K9 Foundation President Robbin Champaign said. “Very happy, very social, loved to be around people, and loved his job.”

Haas has been working with the Duluth Police Department for the last two years as a narcotics detection K9.
