The gunman who is accused of the fatal shooting of rookie California officer took his own life during a standoff with police.
Kevin Douglas Limbaugh, 48, was identified Saturday as the shooter who ambushed the 22-year-old officer, Natalie Corona, on Thursday night while she responded to a car crash shooting her from the shadows before returning to his home about a block away from the shooting scene.
Limbaugh was arrested in September for assaulting someone and was ordered to surrender his semi-automatic rifle. After the incident, he reportedly chatted with his roommate as if nothing happened.
Police were able to track him down to his home. He came out wearing a bulletproof vest and shout something, before returning home and shooting himself in the head.
