A Rookie Louisiana police officer was shot multiple times as she stepped out her front door heading for late shift on Wednesday evening.
Officer Chateri Payne had only been working with the police force of Shreveport since November. She was slated to work the late shift on Wednesday.
Shreveport issued a statement describing Payne as young and beautiful officer who was proving herself to be a capable professional, dedicated to serve the Citizens of Shreveport. Authorities have said that they will follow every lead to identify the gunman responsible for the murder. A witness has been questioned following the fatal shooting.
Payne was reportedly in uniform at the time of the attack. She was transferred to the nearest hospital where she was pronounced dead.
