A man charged over allegedly deliberately lighting a bonfire in the Lake Macquarie region

On Thursday, January 3, 2019, the emergency services were called to a suspicious fire in the bush, near the Fassifern station.

The fire was extinguished and no one was injured.

The Crime Team and the Financial Crime Team opened an investigation under the strike force in Wollybutt.

After extensive investigations, a 25-year-old man was arrested near Victoria Street Station in East Maitland yesterday, January 10, 2019.

He was taken to the Maitland Police Station, where he was charged with intentional shooting and negligence in the extension, as well as receiving / disposing of stolen goods and property allegedly stolen.

The police told the court that the man stole credit cards and threw them into a basket at the Vseifern station.

The man was barred from bail and should be represented today, Friday, January 11, 2019, by the Maitland Local Court.
