A Perth Amboy man was charged with first-degree murder on Friday, after he reportedly stabbed a pregnant woman killing her and the baby in the intersection of Sayre and Steadman avenues.
Police responded to the crime scene to find Esmeralda Cedeno, 20, who was six months pregnant stabbed multiple times. She was pronounced dead after being transported to Hackensack Meridian Health center. The baby also did not survive.
The suspect Benny M.Pichardo Santos Arias, 25, was also charged of the possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose and hindering his own apprehension in the alleged stabbing. He is being held at the Adult Correction Center in North Brunswick pending a detention hearing.
