Philip S. Gutierrez, Los Angeles US district court judge allegedly excluded part of Ashley Judd's trial against Harvey Weinstein.
S. Gutierrez said Wednesday that the actress's claim of sexual harassment was outside the scope of California law. But he added that Jude could be prosecuted under two different charges against Weinstein for defamation and economic interference, according to reports in the Los Angeles Times and the New York Times.
Judd says that after rejecting Winston's sexual advances two decades ago, he defamed the director of "The Lord of the Rings" Peter Jackson, which hurt his career.
Weinstein, 66, faces a criminal trial in New York, a target for new criminal investigations.
The train movie mogul has denied the fact that he is involved in sexual activity.
