The nephew of the Brisbane restaurant owner, who was killed just outside his home in 2017, was charged .

Abdul Basith Mohammed, 35, a father of four , was killed outside his Kuraby home in October 2017 after getting out to check a power issue while his wife and children were home. Authorities said that the release of a CCTV footage had been very useful since a number of people contacted police to help identify the suspect on the footage. Investigators said that Za'id Abdus Samad was the main suspect in the case, and that some sort of cutting implement was used to inflect the victim significant injuries. Also, it would be alleged that the power was turned off in order to lure Mr Mohammed out of his house.

The case is expected to return to court on February 4.
