California man arrested after stealing roommate winning ticket, trying to claim $10M prize

A California man has been arrested after he allegedly stole his roommate's $10 M winning ticket and replaced it with a fake, according to police.

Adul Saosongyang, 35, was arrested when he arrived at the lottery office to claim the prize. Initially thinking the ticket was worth $10,000, the suspect stole his roommate 30$ scratcher ticket and replaced it with a fake one. The roommate became suspicious when he tried to claim the prize and was told that the ticket he presented was actually not winning and altered. The next day, Saosongyang claimed the prize and learnt that it worth $10 M. When the lottery office began its standard investigation for any winnings over $600, officials invited the suspect to award the prize, but rather he was arrested.

Saosongyang was charged with grand theft.
