A teacher has been charged with assault after a video showing her dragging a 9-year-old boy with autism through the halls of a Kentucky school went viral.

The video, posted on Facebook by the boy’s mother, shows resource teacher Trina Abrams dragging the boy first by his right wrist and then by his left wrist down a hallway at Wurtland Elementary School.

The video was recorded by the school’s camera system in October and the boy’s mother, Angel Nelson, later obtained it by subpoena.

The teacher was removed from the school and a formal investigation was conducted.

Abrams is scheduled to appear in Greenup District Court Wednesday on a charge of fourth-degree assault with minor injury.
