A man died on Christmas Day after falling down a steep river canyon while hiking at Yosemite National Park.

Joshua Brock Conner, 32, passed away at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, December 25, 2018, while hiking in Yosemite National Park.

Conner slipped down Silver Apron, a large, sloping granite area above Nevada Fall, and suffered a head injury.

responding authorities arrived at the scene in less than an hour and pulled the man from the water.

Conner, a fitness trainer, and weightlifter had recently been living in Los Angeles and said on his Facebook page that he worked as a registered nurse at Cedars-Sinai medical center in Los Angeles.

A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, January 11, 2019, at St. Johns Catholic Church, Lima, Ohio.
