Two workers have been killed after being caught under a tree shaker at Vista Verde ranch in Cantua Creek in Fresno County.
The deadly incident occurred at around 11:20 a.m. Saturday when Fresno County Fire responded to the scene where they found two workers, a 66-year-old man and 31-year-old man crushed while repairing the machine. Officials said that the victims were the machine operator and a mechanic who were trying to disconnect hydraulic hoses under the shaker when it stopped working. The shaker arm then fell and crushed the two men. The victims were pronounced dead by paramedics.
Authorities were alerted by other workers in the area. The California Occupational Health and Safety Administration is currently investigating the incident.
