Toddler injured while visiting rhinoceroses' enclosure in Florida

A 2-year-old girl was transferred to hospital after being attacked while visiting the Brevard Zoo in Melbourne, Florida, inside an enclosure where there were southern white rhinoceroses.

According to reports the infant and her family had been visiting the zoo on the afternoon of Tuesday checking out the hands-on educational Rhino Encounter exhibit in which people are separated from the animals by several steel poles. The girl "stumbled and fell in between two of the poles and, this is when the snout of the rhinoceroses made contact with the child." witnesses said.

The toddler was rushed to Arnold Palmer Hospital in Orlando suffering a trauma alert, her mother who sustained a non-life -threatening arm injury was taken to Orlando Regional Medical Center.
