A 18-year-old high school student was fatally shot on New Year's eve at convenience sore on Birmingport road.
Jefferson County Sheriff's Office said that the incident occurred when two groups of men opened fire at each other. Two victims were sustained gunshot wounds, and one of them, the teenager, was pronounced dead at a nearby hospital.
The victim's family was shocked and in disbelief when they got the news of his killing on the afternoon of New Year's eve. One family member, Raymeone Benjamin. said that the victim was a "real wonderful, playful person." One teacher posted on social media saying the teen was a friendly, lovable and charming person who was determined to graduate in May."
