German police arrest the man accused of driving into crowds celebrating new year

The German man who reportedly intentionally drove into crowds of people celebrating New Year out of the streets was arrested.

According to police, the 50-year-old driver who had been treated for mental illness in the past made anti-foreigner comments during his arrest and was charged of suspicion of attempted homicide.

Some of the victims injured in the incident were Syrian and Afghan citizens including a 46-year-old woman and a child.

The suspect failed to hit a group of people in Bottrop. He drove into the city center slamming his silver Mercedes car into a crowd injuring four, then drove toward Essen running people down and injuring one person before being arrested by cops.
