Florida investigators are asking people to help identify a severed head discovered on the sidewalk by a female jogger on Tuesday.
“St. Petersburg Police are investigating what appears to be the discovery of human remains near the intersection of 38th Ave. S and 31st St. S after a jogger alerted the department. This is quite a new scene and our investigators are out there looking into it. We don’t have any updates at this time.”
Police said that the head was so badly decomposed that they couldn’t determine the race or gender and even passersby in the frequently used road didn’t report it because it looked like an animal’s.
The jogger who made the grisly discovery said that on Sunday, she was at the scene but didn’t spot the remains. The medical examiner is working to identify the victim.
