Fort Wayne news, Indiana news.

A 21-year-old Indiana man has paid a very high price for standing against law enforcement during a demonstration on Saturday when he was hit by a tear gas canister that damaged his eye.

Indiana Tech student Balin Brake was running back when officers ordered the crowd to disperse when he was hit by a canister to his shoe. Another can flew in his direction and ended up hitting his right eye.

The man was rushed by fellow protesters where he was told that his eye can't be saved. He denied claims of trying to attack cops by picking the "hot as hell" canister with bare hands."

"Gas was deployed and the protester bent over to pick up the canister to throw it back at officers as others were trying to do. When he bent over, another canister skipped and hit the proteser's eye," police insisted.
