A Florida man has turned himself in after authorities linked him to a 2003 murder using DNA recognition technology, police said.

David Lasha Dale, 39, was charged with first-degree homicide of 24-year-old Marcus Virgin who had vanished after going to party with friends. His body was never found.

In 2007, investigators used advanced scientific technologies based on a new tip in the case and identified Dale as a suspect. An arrest warrant has been issued this month.

“These cases are a combination of advances in science and technology, but it also always comes back to having someone in law enforcement who doesn’t give up,” Sheriff David Morgan said. “It always comes back to old-fashion police work and being willing to go out and pound the stone and continue to shake the tree.”
