Wisconsin news.

The Wisconsin Department of Health Services announced Wednesday that a record number of new coronavirus cases and fatalities have been reported in that single day.

With 599 new COVID-19 cases and 22 new deaths, the state saw its highest number of daily infections since the beginning of the outbreak that has now reached 16,462 and a death toll of 539 fatalities.

The grim daily count comes nearly a week after the Wisconsin Supreme Court had overturned Gov. Tony Evers’ decision of extending lockdown measures. The other dramatic daily count in the state was on May 20 with 528 new cases.

Hours after the court ruling on May 13, people in Wisconsin gathered in bars ignoring safety measures.
