US news.

Mitch McConnell, the Senate Majority Leader, revealed that the upcoming stimulus package will be negotiated and passed by “the next month or so.”

McConnell’s announcement came after mounting pressure from both sides of Congress asking to help ease states’ economic struggles amid reopening. The foreseen relief package won’t be as massive as the $3 trillion one recently passed, and won’t include expensive rounds of individual payments. It will likely be around $1 trillion.

“The only way to rescue this economy is to get back to normal,” McConnell said during a press briefing. “We now have a debt the size of our economy. That hasn’t happened since WWII. We can’t keep doing this. The way to get back to normal is to get back to normal.”
