Roane County news, Tennessee news.

A 10-year-old boy who had been found walking alone in a Roane County street had revealed his struggles with his abusive parents who denied his late sister food and locked his brother in the basement for years.

The abuse came to light on Monday when the boy managed to escape the filthy home and led police to his sister’s skeletal remains found buried in the backyard and his living 15-year-old brother who had no contact with the world after being locked in the basement with no water or electricity since 2016.

The children’s adoptive parents, Michael Gray, Sr., 63; and Shirley Gray, 60, have been arrested and charged with aggravated child abuse, aggravated child neglect, and abuse of a corpse. They are held without bond.
