Man who claimed hiring COVID-19 infected patient to spread virus at stores arrested by FBI agents

A Texas man took to Facebook to claim that he hired an infected person to spread pandemic at grocery stores in San Antonio and now he faces false information and hoaxes.

39-year-old Christopher Charles Perez was arrested by FBI agents after concerned residents sent screenshots of his post to authorities. He has been charged with one count of false information and hoaxes related to weapons of mass destruction.

Perez said in his post that his goal was to deter people from going to the store to help stop the virus spread. According to investigators, the threat was false and no stores were targeted. Perez was jailed on Tuesday afternoon and remains in federal custody. If convicted, he could spend five years behind bars.
